Smile– Entry #4 sa blog ni Miss Fat Lady

4.1  Smile at Yourself

To Smile or Not to Smile

One day, a friend asked me to eat lunch with her at the school canteen. After ordering, we found a vacant seat and ate sumptuously. Whilst eating, she was telling me stories, some funny, some were sad. All of which, I just stayed listening, nodding and answering when my opinion is asked.

I was puzzled when she stopped eating. She was frowning. I asked, “Is something wrong?”

She said “nothing” and resumed eating. But a few minutes after that, I noticed her fidgeting. She was looking at me and then at her food and vice-versa. A bit irritated, I asked her for the second time what was wrong.

“You know, you should smile often.” She said hesitantly, probably afraid that I will get angry.

“Often?”

“Hmmm… okay, at least once…a day.” She looked me in the eye and continued. “You know, a smile can make you feel good.”

“And maybe if I smile at someone who’s having a bad day, I could make a difference and make her feel good. My smile could be the only good thing that happened to her that day.” I added with a rather skeptic make-face. “Yeah, I know that. Cliché.”

My friend only smiled. “I know you’re just shy. When I said smile at least once a day, I didn’t say to smile at other people. I was about to add, to face the mirror alone and give yourself a wide and bright smile.”

I laughed. Deep inside, I was starting to feel…uncomfortable. “Why should I do that?”

“’Cause my friend, if you can’t smile even at yourself, how are you going to give your smile to others?”

4.2 Ngumiti (THE Song)

Ngumiti, kahit puso mo’y kumikirot na.
Ngumiti, kahit puso mo’y nababasag na.
Kung may ulap sa langit, makakaya mo
Kapag ngumiti sa problems at sadness
Ngumiti at malay mo bukas

Baka masira eardrums n’yo.

Smile ~~~ Smile~~~ Smile~~~

Currently listening to: MJ’s I Just can’t Stop Loving You & BJ’s Always. JEJEJEJE… Walang aangal!
